Canon Scoopic 16mm Movie Camera
CA$75 / week
The original Scoopic was introduced in 1965, and in 1973 Canon introduced the Scoopic 16M, followed by the 16MN in 1974 and 16MS in 1977. Its name derived from the word “scoop” in the jargon of news broadcasting, was developed by Canon as the world’s first 16 mm movie camera with a built-in zoom lens that was not merely limited to news reportage but had many other wide applications as well.
With this camera both high functionality and full capacity were made possible with such features as a wide angle 6:1 zoom lens, a servo mechanism that made the camera easy to operate even for inexperienced users, electromotive film feed and semi-automatic loading mechanisms, and many other features. The camera’s layout and design were also novel, the first of its kind in the world at that time.
The Canon Scoopic 16M has a fast 6-time zoom lens(T/2.5. Focal length range from 12.5 to 75mm.) The object is kept in focus throughout the entire zooming. This cam will get you sharp pictures and true color reproduction. The finder is a parallax-free single-lens reflex type and the prism focusing glass assures easy focusing. The shutter release button provides light on the finder before shooting.
You can select any filming speed from 1, 16, 24, 32, 48 and 64 fps. The shutter opens to a maximum of 170 degrees. These speeds and shutter opening combine to give the following shutter speeds: 16 fps: 1/34, 24 fps : 1/51, 32 fps: 1/68, 48 fps: 1/102, 64 fps: 1/136.
