Eumig Electric 8mm Movie Camera

CA$10 / week

Eumig Electric 8mm Movie Camera - Circa 1955 The Eumig company in Vienna, Austria had been making movie cameras since 1937. Their "C4" was the first amateur cine camera to be electrically powered. In 1955 they introduced this single lens model just called the Electric 8. It has some weight for a camera that is smaller than my hand. With batteries and film it weighs 2 lbs and fits comfortably cradled in my two hands. This neat plastic roll up door on the side of the camera allows access to the battery compartment. This camera comes with a plastic container that holds 4 AA cells to replace the hard to find 4.5 volt flat battery that came with the camera. The single fixed focus lens focuses from 3ft to infinity, focus is by DOF using the aperture setting. A handy shooting chart is provided on the left hand side of the camera. The ASA and aperture settings displayed on the rear of the camera under the viewfinder. The Electric uses 16mm film, it exposes 8mm one side then turn film around to expose the other side. So a 25 ft roll of film gives you 50 ft of footage. It only shoots 1 or 16 frames/sec. Eumig also made projectors I assume they also run at 16 fps as well. The leaver surrounding the shutter button on the front of the camera has 3 positions, lock, 1 or 16 use this to choose the frame rate. It has seven f stops from 2.8 to 22 adjusted by the leaver surrounding the 12.5mm Eugon lens.
